Integration Testing: Risk-Based Quality Model and Traceability

We are building a quality model for intersystem integrations that links business scenarios, contracts between systems, key risks, and real-world testing. This allows us to go beyond simply writing and running tests and transparently answer questions about what exactly is being tested, what risks are covered, where there are conscious limitations, and what determines the quality of a specific interaction.

This approach helps align integration testing expectations across development, maintenance, and business teams, making it more understandable, measurable, and manageable. In addition to providing transparency into current coverage, the model helps improve the quality of change analysis: quickly identifying affected contracts, scenarios, risks, and checks, and, as a result, more accurately calculating the scope of required testing.
