Visual Testing + Testplane: How to Scale Coverage Faster and Make Checks More Reliable

  • 40 min

When are visual checks a QA's friend? In this talk, I will share practical tips for screenshot-based testing and our experience of introducing it into large-scale Yandex projects.

Despite offering a number of appealing advantages, visual checks are often overlooked by QA teams. Visual checks frequently seem too fragile, complex, or not useful enough if everything is already covered by e2e or integration tests. I will explain how to unlock the full potential of screenshot-based tests and how to make them intuitive and straightforward for QA engineers to work with.

We'll discuss how to automate visual checks: both with and without modern LLMs + MCPs. We'll analyse how to make screenshot tests fast and stable, and also dive a bit into the tech we've implemented in Testplane to make visual testing workflow easy and convenient to use.
